Hope Visits Bearspaw Christian School

After five months in Alberta Children's Hospital, Hope is home and made a surprise visit to BCS.

She arrived in her new wheelchair accessible van purchased by the generous families of Bearspaw Christian School.

Hope and her family came to thank the students for helping purchase the much needed van.

Several months ago, while visiting Hope in the hospital, I told her that upon her return to school there would be a surprise awaiting her. I asked Hope her favourite colour. She continued shaking her head "no" as I guessed numerous colours. With a little help from her dad, I finally guessed turquoise and with a huge smile she nodded "Yes!"

I introduced "Princess Hope" to the cheering crowd presenting her with a tiara and boa in memory of this special occasion.

I was astonished when Trevor said that Hope would like to speak to the students.Although there were several hundred students in the audience, the room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop. With eager anticipation, we all listened as Hope spoke her name quite clearly. Then Heather asked "Hope, what is the greatest school?" With great effort and struggle, Hope was able to say "BEAR PAW!"

A day I will never forget!

Through a local contact that we have made in preparation for our climb, we are excited for the opportunity to visit an orphanage while in Moshi. The children at Bow Valley Baptist Church are donating school supplies for the children at Msamaria. Scrabble games have been requested to assist the children in learning English and we hope to have 10 games to deliver by July 24th.
